How do I maintain a perennial in pots during winter?

I have some perennials in pots are sun lovers. Unfortunately, I was not able to lay on the floor during the summer thanks to a public water line is put in I do not know what to do with them. We live in North America, so temperatures drop below freezing. Today, I keep them inside to wait for spring. However, I fear that the issue of Sun are lovers the sun, so I know what to do with them.
